30 Peoria houses are up for auction

PEORIA — Thirty Peoria houses go on the auction block at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Rick Levin and Associates, a Downers Grove-based auction firm, will conduct the auction at the Holiday Inn City Centre, 500 Hamilton Blvd.

Bidders need to have a $2,000 cashier's check to bid on a house, said Levin.

"These are inexpensive homes that could be a real bargain for someone," he said.

Levin conducted an auction in March in Peoria during which 12 houses were sold, ranging in price from $7,000 to $40,000.

"More and more buyers and sellers are going the auction route," said Levin, noting that his company will have a housing auction in Warsaw, Poland later this month.

The 30 Peoria houses to be auctioned can be previewed on the company Web site, www.ricklevin.com.
